Sustainability at the Congress
We are committed to a family medicine that is more equitable, accessible, and inclusive for everyone
At semFYC, we believe that sustainable development is not just an add-on, but a way of understanding family medicine and the events we organize. This congress has been designed to align with our values: caring for people, caring for the planet, and leaving no one behind.
We drive our commitment through three key pillars that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the framework of the 2030 Agenda.
1. Environmental sustainability: activities with purpose 🌱

People's health is deeply connected to the health of the planet. For this reason, semFYC works to ensure that our scientific activities reduce their environmental impact. In 2026, we are implementing concrete measures to move towards more responsible and environmentally friendly congresses.
Main actions:
- Carbon footprint measurement and offsetting actions.
- Active promotion of public, collective, and bicycle transport.
- Promotion of shared transport.
- Total elimination of single-use plastics.
- Use of recyclable materials.
- Selection of local and sustainable suppliers for all services.
- Responsible waste management and visible recycling stations.
- Prioritizing venues with clean energy and certified environmental management.

2. Access, equity, and inclusion: activities that leave no one behind 🤝

Sustainability also means ensuring that everyone can participate under equal conditions. In 2026, we are reinforcing our commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity by incorporating measures that ensure accessible, safe, and representative spaces for all voices in family medicine.
Main actions:
- A diverse and equitable conference program.
- Use of inclusive language across all materials, communications, and sessions.
- Visibility of social initiatives through a dedicated space for the Communia semFYC Foundation.
- Inclusive facilities: nursing room and children's corner.
- Setup of a "Purple Point" (safe space) and secure channels to report any discrimination or harassment.
In collaboration with:

3. Organizational culture: activities that go further 🌟

Sustainability is not just about what we do, but how we do it. In 2026, we are consolidating an organizational culture that places sustainability at the heart of our decisions—from content planning to actively listening to those who take part in our activities. We want this commitment to be shared and cross-cutting.
Main actions:
- Highlighting and promoting our sustainable commitment.
- Drafting a brief post-congress sustainability report.
- Active listening to attendees to gather feedback and sustainable proposals.
